Permafrost

Her icy breath a bitter omen, The world encased, forever frozen, Gliding through the streets frost-bound, Unburdened by the lack of sound, For she is all that does remain, Of this world that winter claimed, She drifts like smoke down icy roads, Where once a sunlit river flowed, Whilom rays now overcast, Shrouded in whispers of the past, Cursed to grace the earth alone, Where even silence starts to drone, Memories lost to time eternally framed, The world of life now death reclaimed, The reaper follows close behind, He stalks in vain with no soul to bind, As if in a trance condemned to shadow, Bound to her path of ice and sorrow.
